Serving California & Nevada — Under the Supervision of Counsel
Careers at NCBA Limited
Bring Your Experience. Build What Comes Next.
Published binding precedent. Nine-figure-estate litigation support. Emergency writs drafted in days. This is the team behind that work — and we are always looking for qualified candidates, with deep family law experience first on the list.
At NCBA Limited, drafting, research, case preparation, and trial support are the work — not adjacent tasks.
Under the direct supervision of licensed counsel, our team has supported published California precedent, nine-figure-estate litigation, and emergency writs assembled in days. Family law is the deepest bench we are building, which is why family law and high net worth litigation experience carries the most weight.
Substantive assignments — briefs, research memos, points and authorities, trial prep
Supervision of counsel — licensed attorneys direct and review every legal support task
Modern tooling — document systems, legal tech stacks, and AI-era workflows across every role

Open Roles
A Real Ladder. One Standard.
Seven roles. Two career tracks. One clear standard: demonstrated ability. Explore the work, compare the expectations, and choose the role that best fits your experience today.
Administrative Track
Receptionist, administrative, and executive-support work keeps the operation running through disciplined intake, scheduling, communications, records, and follow-through.
Legal Track
Legal Assistant through Lead Paralegal work advances from reliable case support to independent drafting, complex-matter execution, quality control, and team leadership under counsel.
Receptionist / Administrative
0–3 Years · Administrative Track
The first voice a firm’s client hears — and the operational backbone behind it: polished call handling and intake screening, calendaring hearings and deadlines in case management and court systems, conflict checks, billing entries in standard 0.1-hour increments, and files kept immaculate.
The engine room of a case file and the first rung of the legal track: document assembly, e-filing and proof of service, exhibit organization, deadline tracking, and correspondence that goes out clean the first time — fluent in the document systems the work runs on.
Where the drafting craft starts: petitions, responses, and RFO packages with supporting declarations; income and expense disclosures; DVRO paperwork under close supervision; basic discovery; e-filing and deadline tracking against California and Nevada procedure — work product that needs only light review.
An independently managed caseload: complex motions (move-away, modification, contempt), support calculations in DissoMaster or XSpouse, property tracing and Moore/Marsden analysis, QDROs, trial binders, and research memos for attorney review — trusted to deal directly with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff.
The attorney’s right hand: trial briefs and points and authorities, expert witness coordination, UCCJEA and interstate matters, high-asset dissolution support with business valuation and forensic accounting liaison, and quality control over outgoing filings. Experienced candidates should be ready to discuss and demonstrate that work.
A strategic partner to supervising counsel: quality control across the full caseload, workflow and deadline oversight, mentoring every junior tier, billing review, legal-technology integration, and calm command of the emergencies — urgent filings, TROs, last-minute trial preparation.
A note on the word “paralegal.” Every paralegal-tier engagement requires qualification under Business and Professions Code section 6450, including continuing-education currency — and if you are still working toward that qualification, keep reading.
Featured Seventh Role
Executive Assistant to the CEO.
Our CEO is looking for an Executive Assistant — a role for someone who runs a calendar the way a good clerk runs a courtroom. Communications triage, scheduling command, meeting preparation, and follow-through across a company that supports law firms in two states.
Discretion is the entire job description: you will be near confidential matters every day, and § 6453-grade confidentiality discipline is the expectation. Technology fluency is non-negotiable — calendars, documents, and AI-era tools should already feel like home.
There is an honest entry point for candidates still building qualification, and a clear operating standard for experienced remote professionals.
Still Building Paralegal Qualification?
NCBA Limited is not an accredited school or a law firm and cannot certify paralegal qualification under Business and Professions Code section 6450. We can help promising candidates understand legitimate education and work-based learning paths without presenting a referral as qualification.
Independent law-firm referrals — an introduction to a separate firm that may offer a properly structured, attorney-supervised work-based learning opportunity
A working start — administrative and Legal Assistant roles are honest entry points while you complete the pathway
Experienced candidates may work fully remote when their experience and setup match the demands of large-record, deadline-driven legal work.
Experience commensurate with the role — remote autonomy is earned by a track record
A professional workstation — large or multiple monitors for document-intensive matters
Capable equipment and reliable internet — large records and video conferences without interruption
Confidentiality discipline — a workspace and habits that protect client information
Work Can Be Education
Learn on Real Matters Without Confusing Experience With Qualification.
NCBA would make only a referral. A separate law firm — not NCBA — decides whether to offer any role, internship, or externship and is responsible for supervision, classification, compensation, confidentiality, and assignments. A referral is not a placement, legal advice, a school program, or a promise of qualification.
NCBA limits this referral pathway to a current qualification route it can state clearly. Under Business and Professions Code section 6450(c), a person who already holds a bachelor’s or advanced degree may use at least one year of law-related experience under a qualifying attorney, plus that attorney’s written declaration. NCBA does not present other experience routes through this referral pathway.
Hands-on learning has support, but no honest promotion guarantee.Legal-education research on immersive law-firm placements reports stronger practical skills and faster “speed to capability.” That evidence concerns law students, not California paralegal promotions, so NCBA does not claim that an internship automatically produces faster advancement. The defensible promise is simpler: supervised real work can turn theory into judgment, feedback, work habits, and demonstrable skill.

Common Questions
Before You Apply.
What kind of engagement is this?
NCBA currently recruits for contractor engagements. Classification, scope, compensation, and terms depend on the role and arrangement and are discussed directly with the candidate, then confirmed in writing for the particular engagement. The page and role explorer do not set them.
Do I need family law experience?
Deep family law experience carries the most weight for the paralegal tiers. Receptionist, Legal Assistant, and Executive Assistant candidates are evaluated on their own craft, though family law familiarity helps.
What does the skills assessment involve?
A practical exercise matched to the role’s work product. Paralegal-tier exercises use fictional drafting, research, and citation materials within a defined window.
How is compensation structured?
Specific compensation and payment terms are discussed directly with the candidate and confirmed in writing for the particular engagement. The role explorer does not set a rate, classification, or payment model.
When should I apply?
